Yelp's Censored Review of Kerry Park

[Note:   A few days later, after the following review below had been removed, Yelp went ahead and removed my three previous reviews of Kerry Park.  Not having been informed they would "go after" them as well, I had not saved copies to my hard drive.  As a result, all three reviews were lost forever.  I must have spent 12 hours on them and they had important links.  I suspect the properties across from the park, which boxed it in terribly and changed the whole environment and ambiance, complained loudly to Yelp, which acquiesced only too happily.  No need to scare people from buying real estate].

Question:

When does a place goes from being popular to being TOO popular?

Answer:

When You're with friends there and are approached by a group of men, one of whom points a gun at you. You try to cover your face with your hands. The other men in the group begin punching and kicking you in the head.*

You fall to the ground and try crawling away. Your friends, scared out of their wits, are obviously no match for these guys.

Before running off, they fire gunshots in the air.

This happened at Kerry Park on March 18, early Sunday morning.

* Sounds like what happened to Tuba Man, Danny Vega, or James Paroline:

The Seattle Police Department and the media refuse to give a description of the assailants, aside from the gender. (That's sexism. It makes all men look like thugs).

But at least we know it wasn't a group of teen-age girls.

The media do not disclose whether the man was taken to the hospital or the seriousness of the head injuries (in a coma? fractured jaw? or mostly superficial facial bruises?).

P.C. Analysis: "Well, I feel safe, anyway. This is a safe city, after all, compared to Detroit. It was a random act of violence, it could have happened anywhere. And no was killed, right?

O.K., wear a bullet-proof vest, then. And anyway what business does anyone have being in one of Seattle's erstwhile safe neighborhoods after sundown?

So I'm not overly concerned. (I'm going to go see "Dark Knight" on blu-ray tonight. Now that IS scary. And cool).

What else goes on at night at Kerry Park that doesn't get reported?

"Luxury" townhouses just across the street notwithstanding...

This kind of crime would not have happened five years ago in this once idyllic neighborhood. I stopped going to this tiny grassy neighborhood look-out years ago. Too many people, too "diverse."

Diversity should not have to mean tolerance towards violent crimes.

Even if you're an insomniac, don't walk your dog in the vicinity of Kerry Park late at night.

Kerry Park, ever the tourist trap, cheapened by encroaching real estate development, clueless chattering, camera-clicking tourists, and now roving bands of young thrill-seekers.

On a sunny day, residents and tourists "on the march." Ceaseless.

Rainier Beach, meet Queen Anne. But I can't introduce you, for instance, to Broadmoor. How about Laurelhurst-Windemere?
