Just one suggestion for the SPD:
Hire *** more minority police officers *** and have those same officers patrol the Rainier Valley, Rainier Beach, White Center, Central Area, etc.
They'll undoubtedly be less likely to use "excessive force," i.e., police brutality, on criminals, suspects, and innocent bystanders.

Kristopher Kime, we have failed you miserably.
In Seattle, not a week goes by...

Granted, the Seattle Police are "nice enough"--to use the celebrated phrase--but either the Office of the Mayor is not giving them the resources to control the rampant crime in this city, or they themselves are not taking it seriously enough. Or maybe it's the whole system, with most Seattleites themselves not really concerned enough as long it doesn't happen to them.

This is just a fraction of the violent crime committed in a few days' time, as much goes unreported by the victims, ignored or the media, or censored by police department.
But then I also recur that 25 years when I was attacked in my own neighborhood (Greenwood) by a bunch of kids sitting out on a porch 6 blocks from where I lived--beaten, kicked, given a black eye (with contact lens knocked out)--the Seattle Police supposedly did an investigation. And couldn't even find out who did it.
Danny Westneat, columnist for the Seattle Times, thinks he is finally onto something:

Is the Seattle Police Department going to do anything besides RESPOND AFTER THE FACT?
Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.
